The Liturgy Ministry of St Vincent de Paul works in conjunction with the Pastor and Associate Pastor in the preparation of all parish liturgical functions. The goal in preparing parish celebrations is to encourage full, active, and conscience participation of its members. This is accomplished by taking into consideration the various languages, cultures, and liturgical styles of the community of St Vincent de Paul Parish. Accordingly, all celebrations are prepared under the guidelines of the Church Documents, with consideration given to the Seasons of the Church Year, and various Feasts and other celebrations.
In addition, the Liturgical Ministry is responsible for the training, scheduling, continuing education, and spiritual enrichment of all liturgical ministers. The primary responsibility of all liturgical ministers is that they fully and actively participate in the celebration of the liturgy and parish events. If you are interested please contact Jenny Guzman by email at [email protected] or for further information please contact our parish office.
Eucharistic Ministers: Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion should receive sufficient spiritual, theological, and practical preparation to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence. All ministers of Holy Communion should show the greatest reverence for the Most Holy Eucharist by their demeanor, their attire, and the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread or wine. Proclaimers: When the Sacred Scriptures are read in the Church, God himself speaks to his people, and Christ, present in his word, proclaims the Gospel. Therefore, the readings from the Word of God are to be listened to reverently by everyone, for they are an element of the greatest importance in the Liturgy. In texts that are to be pronounced in a loud and clear voice, whether by the Priest or the Deacon, or by a reader, or by everyone, the voice should correspond to the genre of the text itself, that is, depending upon whether it is a reading, a prayer, an explanatory comment, an acclamation, or a sung text. Ushers: Ushers stand ready to assist anyone in the parish who might need help, to aid latecomers in finding a seat, and to inform those in the sanctuary of any urgent matters. They also assist when taking up the collection and placing it in its proper place. In many ways, the ushers are the “face” of the church, the first ones that people see when they arrive and the last ones they see as they leave. It is important that an usher be friendly, honest, and willing to serve. It is an honorable position in the church, requiring integrity, cordiality, and wisdom. Music: The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater than that of art. The main reason for this...it forms a necessary or integral part of solemn liturgy. CCC. 1156
